BUY THE WINE

Jesús Barquín: As usual, this producer’s wines have more solid color. Kirsch aromas and spice in the nose, but especially on the palate, where clove and cinnamon are evident. The nose is alluring and the palate is fleshy yet elegant, long, well structured. Tannins are faultlessly powerful yet fine; a deliciously complex wine. 18.5

Simon Field: Confident of hue, friendly on the nose, an honest quite powerful expression of the potential of the year in these parts. In the mouth, fruit, tannins and acidity are locked in a battle. The identity of the victor is hitherto unclear. 16.5

Jancis Robinson: Dark ruby. A little bit of decay on the nose. Sweet start and very assertive fruit. But not much complexity or subtlety. Aggressive. Chewy end. Could be more refreshing. Big and bold. Drink 1990–2010. 16
