BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin: Super-dense color, high alcohol. A little closed on the nose. Oak-dominated and drying out the fruit, tannin upon tannin. Flashy but faintly soulless winemaking? Finishes with a combination of tannin and alcohol and slightly Porty fruit. Fig and plum. Good, but I’m not sure I could drink a bottle of this. 16.5

Jesús Barquín: Deep cherry. There are more restrained examples in this overoaked and extracted style. This is dominated by aggressive tannins and toasty notes above closed fruit. Because there is enough substance, it may mellow and round up with time, but right now it is performing less pleasurably than we would like it to. 14

Alex Hunt: The nose is a little dumb and flat; there is a suggestion of overripeness, too. The palate has more energy, but the tannin is not the most refined on show, and there is a palpable impression of alcohol. Overall, slightly clumsy compared to others here. 14
