BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin: Mid-garnet/purple. Ripe, slightly figgy nose, but at lower level of alcohol. Some spice, dried figs, touch of plum skin; savory, medium-weight tannins, mature, yet with good concentration. Balanced but needs food 16.5

Nicolas Belfrage: Medium deep, bright. Clean, almost fresh plum and small berry-fruit nose. Plenty of ripe plummy fruit, with good acidity to hold it in place. Not very complex; needs food 15

Bruno Besa: Black core to garnet rim. Closed nose yet clean and defined, with sandalwood, smoke, prunes, and Mediterranean herbs. Full body, yet elegant and defined. Another classic wine that is at its best 17.5
