BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin: Mature, garnet, brick-red color. Nice, mature secondary and tertiary characteristics. Nose of Asian spices overlaid with some oak. Dry and a little retro, with high alcohol and some figgy/pruney flavors. Would have been better two years ago 12

Nicolas Belfrage: Deep, almost opaque. Damson and plum on nose, hint of tar. Plenty of fruit, firm structure in terms of alcohol, tannin, and acid; doesn’t quite knit but good effort. May improve with a further two years in bottle. Big wine 15

Bruno Besa: Garnet core to tawny rim. Mature prunejuice- like nose yet well supported by the spicy mineral nose. Full body and mature palate, with huge tannins that are well supported by the rich fruit; fairly astringent and bitter finish, though. Maybe a wine that has passed its best 14
