BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin: Mid-ruby red. Ripe, plummy, herbal aromatics, with notes of dry earth. Firmish tannins, fresh acidity, a touch of reduction, but an angular finish. A wine that needs a little more fruit 13

Nicolas Belfrage: Slightly deeper and a hint off-bright; beginnings of orange on rim. Clean, faultless, but slightly dumb nose. Medium-intensity fruit on palate with acidity somewhat spigolosa. In situ, fruit overrides, but acidity overrides fruit. Not entirely harmonious; doubt whether it has the stoffa to come fully together 14

Bruno Besa: Deep garnet core to pink, tawny rim. Mature, spicy nose, with developed black-fruit character, yet clean, with hints of oriental spices. Fairly unbalanced palate, with exuberant acidity probably caused by the disappearing fruit. Clean but unbalanced 13
