BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin: Inky, violet-tinged hue. Big, ripe; dark chocolate and plums on the nose, with some herbs and spice. Slightly sweet on the palate, with pronounced acidity, but the overall balance is good. The wine carries its tannins lightly 16

Nicolas Belfrage: Color very deep, effectively opaque, with little turn on rim. Nose of small berry fruit and herb, but also vegetable. First impression on palate is of very aggressive acidity with some drying tannin. Some nonwine (plastic) flavors on finish, further marred by acid. End result is unpleasant 10

Bruno Besa: Black core to ruby rim. Broad, mature nose of black and red fruits, with great complexity and hints of cedarwood; lean and very persistent. Full body, a touch jammy but with fairly simple fruit; fairly short and unbalanced. Great nose but poor palate 14
