BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin: Some development at the rim, showing brick-red/tawny notes. Spicy, complex, leafy, slightly figgy nose, with integrated oak. Big, spicy, peppery, and firm, yet with supple, sweet fruit underneath the tannins and acidity. The volcanic soils and altitude have given this wine extra lift and intensity 18

Nicolas Belfrage: Lively, attractive mid-depth color, with slight oranging on rim. Slightly mute but promising nose of herb and bitter cherry. Bright, buoyant wine in the mouth, with lively acidity and a sufficiency of cherry and plum fruit to keep it in balance. Tannins are smooth and well integrated. Medium length. If it lacks something, it’s a touch of concentration, but it’s well typed and will remain good drinking for some years 16
