BUY THE WINE

Nicolas Belfrage: Medium depth; a bit gray at heart, but orange rim. Some toastiness on nose but very typical fruit on palate behind the toast. Good acidity and ripe tannins with fruit carrying through and building. Fine wine not ready yet but promising years of drinking satisfaction. Drink 2016 for 20 years - 18.5

Stephen Brook: Fairly deep brick red. Reticent nose, quite meaty. Medium-bodied, fresh, with good acidity but not much concentration or structure. The acidity is taut, the tannins assertive, but there’s not enough flesh to absorb them. The wine’s a bit meager and lacks succulence - 13.5

Jancis Robinson: Mid- to dark ruby, with rusty rim. Very ripe and heady. Lots of fruit. Polished texture. Sweet candified aromas, plus strong acidity on the finish. Exciting overall. Very rich and racy. Transparent. Roses and licorice. Drink 2013–20 - 17.5
