Nicolas Belfrage: Fairly deep, typical. Good pungency on nose. Good attack but slight Polo mint effect (a hole in the middle) in mid-palate due to slightly low acidity. Nonetheless, classic style, well-cared-for wine, very correct. Needs time to come together; promising. Drink from 2016 for 10+ years - 16.5
Stephen Brook: Very deep brick red. Spicy nose: damsons and cherries and a whiff of almonds. Reasonably fresh attack, juicy, zesty, not super-concentrated, but lively and invigorating, with acidity dominating the tannins at the moment. Quite forward, but there’s no reason why it shouldn’t age, since it seems balanced and alert. Quite good length, smoky finish - 16.5
Jancis Robinson: Blackish ruby. Very sweet and Porty on the nose. Awfully baked. A lack of freshness and too much rhubarb-stew character. Was this picked a tad too late? I would probably like it if it were served in isolation, but alongside subtler 2006 Barolos it looks a little heavy-handed. Drink 2014–19 - 15
