Tim Atkin: Deep, inky color. Rich, faintly alcoholic nose, with a touch of pine resin. Oaky, fruitcake flavors, furry tannins, medium acidity. The chewy tannin will still be there some time after the fruit has faded 13.5
Stephen Brook: Opaque red. Opulent, plummy nose, packed with fruit; integrated oak; chocolaty and vibrant. Surprisingly soft attack for a 2009 but balanced by lively acidity. There’s not much complexity, or not yet, but the primary-fruit character is wonderfully attractive. It’s succulent, lightly tannic, and forward. Probably best drunk fairly young for its youthful pizazz but should hold for some years. Quite long 17
Alex Hunt: Saturated purple color and a fairly saturated nose of blackberry, plum, and almond. There is no shortage of extraction on the palate, but a combination of fruit concentration and potent minerality helps the wine achieve balance. This is impressive wine, several years from ready 17
