Tim Atkin: Mid-ruby/red. Spicy, leafy, forest-floor and smoky-bacon-like nose. Aromatic. Slightly confected palate, with some Cola Cube candy notes, some sweet red fruits and a touch of vanilla oak. A little sweet and simple 14
Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Sweet, slightly gamey nose, enlivened by oak. Some might consider the nose over the top, but I like its sauvage character. Medium-bodied and fresher than the nose leads one to imagine, with moderate tannin and acidity to perk it up. Less evolved than the nose, but also less complex on the palate. It’s soft and lacks persistence, adding up to a rather disappointing mouthful, with little flair or complexity. Eminently drinkable, though only with moderate length 14.5
Alex Hunt: This nose gives a great impression of solidity—a vivid expression of meat, smoke, herbs, juniper, and blackberry that sums up Syrah. The palate disappoints after that first impression, being a little flat and horsey, with no great finish 14
