Alex Hunt: Pronounced aldehyde character on the nose. This smells more like Fino than red wine at first, though fruit emerges with time in the glass. The palate is better, with typical crunchy summer fruit. Firm tannic structure; plenty of juiciness here, too. It just finishes a bit too dry and flat, returning to the initial impression- 13
Andrew Jefford: Saturated red-purple. Soft, rich, raspberry fruits with a sweet undertow and a little red-flower intrigue, too. Quietly compelling. Beautiful aromatic refinement. Intense, vivid, fresh, juicy yet chunky, close-textured, with lovely clinging tannins bonded tightly to the primeur black-cherry fruits. Christmas spice (nutmeg, clove). A wine very much of its place and singularly delicious. This has magnificently judged ripeness, seemingly on the cusp of end-season richness yet still bolted to earlyseason freshness. It would be very hard not to sink a bottle of this once opened- 16.5
Simon Larkin: Deep in the glass, nearly opaque; the nose is subdued yet hints at dark-berry fruit and undergrowth. A lively, freshly crushed fruit is well presented on the palate, with a sleek nature. Seems a little austere on finish, even edgy as the tannins reveal a grippy quality and the sense of youthful rasping acidity builds. Almost lacks some roundness, leaves you with a darting minerally, almost gravelly impression of high-toned fruit. Benefit of the doubt? - 12.5
