Andrew Jefford: Clear, glowing russet-amber in color. Sweet, harmonious, and fresh, despite the sweetness; lots of red-fruit charm, with a little coffee and torrefaction behind, and then some soft licorice, too. Malt extract, after a wee while in the glass. On the palate, this is moderately concentrated, lively, poised, with some textural presence; the balance between fresh red fruit and caramel richness in the second half of the palate is extremely well struck. Perfect alcohol integration: It is invisible and seamless. Supremely well handled: good vineyards and perfect cellar practices; hard to fault within its style. A supremely sippable fortified wine, with ease and relaxation written all over it 17

Richard Mayson: Mid-brick red to tawny; fine and restrained on the nose, scented and complex; smooth and suave on the palate, with a delightful meld of fruitcake flavors; retaining freshness, which is especially evident on the finish. This has real poise and finesse. Surely a good 20 Year Old Tawny Port? 19 Jancis Robinson: Lustrous rose red. Pale rim. Slightly lacking freshness on the nose, but only very slightly. Certainly mellow... Tawny Port style. Not that sweet, and very tangy, refreshing, and lively on the palate. Lightly chewy. Obviously very long aged in wood. Drink 2000–20 17.5
