Ken Gargett: Always a dangerous analogy, but if the 3100can be considered as the muscular andmore “masculine” of the pair, the 3110 is themore “feminine” wine, the embodiment ofethereal elegance. Wonderfully complex, with a kaleidoscope of flavors that comein ever-evolving waves. There are still theexotic spice characters, but it is more floral, with mocha and red-fruit notes. Sweetearth, old tobacco, and dried vegetation.Sweet leather notes. An array of flavorsthat can only emerge with maturity, yetagain this wine is fresh and amazinglyyouthful—and certainly destined for a verylong life. It may not have the force of the3100 but instead offers a graceful, lingeringquality. The tannins are more gentle andsettled. An Australian wine that ranks withthe very best that this country has everproduced. 20
