Stephen Brook: Rich, floral nose, hothouse flowers, heady but not overbearing, being balanced by a strong fruity peachiness. Suave, juicy, concentrated, rather heavy, and unctuous, though it shows surprising acidity, which leads to a lean and fairly dry finish. Yet it doesn’t have much length or flair, and the overall impression is a bit leaden, with some bitterness at the back of the palate 14
Alison Buchanan: Rich golden straw, this presents a slightly oily, leesy nose, ripe stone fruit, punctuated by minerals. There are mild herbal notes, too, and a savory edge. The nose is rather mature. The palate reflects the nose. Rather dry on the finish, it is relatively short, the fruit giving way to mineral dominance and a slight alcoholic burn. There is something of a disparity between the promise of the nose and the delivery on the palate 14
Anthony Rose: Yellow-gold in color, this has a fresh nose of apricot and plum and a slight truffley character. There’s some attractive driedapricot richness on the palate and almost enough acidity to maintain freshness, but a distinct alcoholic burn kicks in on the finish, slightly reducing that mid-plate freshness, with the end result that the palate starts to pall. A hard cheese might redress this slight imbalance. Then again.. 14
