Andrew Jefford: Mid-gold in color. Fresh, vivid, and attractive, though without a lot of focus. A flutter of spring leaves. On the palate, the wine is attractively dry (hurrah!), long, concentrated, and folded up with an origami of acidity into a tautness and tension that Sauvignon aficionados hope for. I can’t say that there is any apparent minerality yet, but all of that pressed-citrus precision is very delicious. It’s dry, but it’s also fully ripe and hence has natural flavor resonance: respectful winemaking with carefully grown raw materials. All that, plus the raw excitement of New Zealand, makes for a very attractive combination 16
Andreas Larsson: White pear, elderflower, and chamomile on the nose; nice and straightforward palate with a good freshness and young clean fruit. Unlike many other examples this feels closer to bone-dry. Nice juicy acidity and a nicely dry, firm finish 14.5
Stephan Reinhardt: Slightly darker than white. Red berries (Wald-Erdbeeren: tiny strawberries from the forest) on the nose. Extremely pure and demanding/arrogating on the palate. Very reductive, firmly structured, salty, straight, quite dry, and uncharming now but very promising. Good length. Quite powerful 15.5
