Andrew Jefford: Pale gold in color. Fresh, carefully drawn, wonderfully pure: hesitant, shy, virginal. It’s the place, in other words, that is doing all the seducing; the winemaker has just brought the place to the glass. A fine example of how aromatic understatement can sometimes eclipse the showy. Deep, full, with more breadth than I was expecting; a long, concentrated wine whose overall roundness of contour and shape makes me wonder if this wine (or a portion of the wine) has spent time in old oak. Whatever the truth, these are very good vineyards, and their personality and northern force emerge admirably untrammeled from this fine bottle 17
Andreas Larsson: Good intensity and purity—a riper style, with yellow fruit, almond paste, and lemon confiture. Some creamy notes; perhaps some gentle oak in the background; very crisp and young acidity but with enough fruit to back it up. Keeps lingering for a good while. Balanced and enjoyable 14
Stephan Reinhardt: Greenish white color. Is this a Sauvignon Blanc made for vegetarians? Carrots and broccoli on the nose, green beans, a touch of nuts, and mocha—and an inert developing fruit. Quite complex and very well made. On the palate, spicy sausage flavors (Italian airdried salami) but then extremely mineral and reductive. Very clear, firm, and straight. Lean and long. Still on its way. Very good potential. Mind it to drink now, but do not forget to store it. Is there a touch of new wood in the end, or is it just yeast? Blackberry and cassis flavors in the end. Very good length 16
