Andrew Jefford: Pale green-gold in color. Lots of faintly sweaty thiols here, though with a pretty sweetness, too: an adolescent stripping off before a shower at the end of a boisterous summer day. On the palate, the wine is rather hard and driving, lacking the finesse and limpidity of the best, though it couldn’t be anything other than Sauvignon—and in the global context, it is still an attractive example 12.5
Andreas Larsson: Pure and floral aromas emanate from the glass: chamomile, melon, and quince. There’s some bitterness on the palate, though not too much—it just adds to the structure. Clean fruit and a balanced acidity; fairly long finish 13.5
Stephan Reinhardt: This again is a fruit-driven Sauvignon, quite rich and concentrated on the nose but also dominated by tropical-fruit flavors. Tobacco leafs, pipi du chat, cassis flavors, and a cooler soul all announce that we are still in France. Very fruity and intense on the palate, very mineral (salty) as well. Powerful. This is the wine that bridges the Loire with New Zealand (just to give an orientation). Firmly structured, quite pure in its soul, complex and elegant, with an impressive length including cassis flavors. Modern Loire style. Impressive 17
