Andrew Jefford: Full gold. Complex aromas. There is nothing (to me) varietal about them at all, but they have a high-latitude boisterousness: dough, orchard fruits, banana, some yeasty richness, grapefruit. It’s another highly acidic wine on the palate—dry but rather caustic. That aromatic richness quickly dissipates into slenderness and edginess. Perhaps there is a little minerality here, but without more midpalate seduction and wealth, it would be hard to appreciate. This is a carefully made wine, and I’m sure it reflects its origins with fidelity, but it tastes tart, hard, and lean. Please plant something else 10.5
Andreas Larsson: The nose feels a bit rustic, with notes of grape seeds and apple skin. The palate is rich and intense, also with a hint of that fruit-skin bitterness. Otherwise it’s fine, with generous fruit and a fair persistence 12
Stephan Reinhardt: Pale golden color. Earthy and reductive flavors. Pure and fruity on the palate; very rich and slightly bitter, due to the high alcohol level. Good structure—but in the end, the licorice flavors and the massive body do not force one to order a second glass, not to mention a bottle 15.5
