Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Subdued nose, cherries and vanilla. Supple attack, juicy and vivid, and backed by firm tannins that give grip and texture. It’s not that expressive now, but it has admirable concentration and a chocolaty graininess that add complexity. I expect this will show better in a year or so. Quite good length 17
Alex Hunt: This was closed at first, with a layer of new oak still present. But with cajoling, some interesting aromas of plum sauce and aniseed began to appear. The wine has a more tightly grained structure than your typical juicy Zin, but then the flavor is a little more nuanced and savory, too. The result is a wine of distinguished cohesion and authority 17
Anthony Rose: Good color, attractively complex nose with seemingly mature and fresh elements going on. It’s deliciously concentrated mulberry fruit, with good juicy, damsony acidity and a firm backbone of tannin that’s easing into a fine succulence of texture and nicely dry aftertaste. It may have a year or two for the further development of complexity, but it’s finely balanced and rather lovely now 17
