Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Slightly raisiny nose, but not cooked, with very ripe cherry and blackberry fruit. Medium-bodied but very concentrated, with considerable intensity given by the acidity. Quite pungent, and fresher than the nose suggests it will be. No blockbuster, but quite a graceful, linear style, with finely tuned oak and discreet tannins. Quite good length, yet lacks some drive 16
Alex Hunt: There’s a slightly fecal farmyardy whiff here—possibly some Brett? The palate shows the classic Zin profile of juiciness and bite, albeit with a slight excess of dry tannin. This wine is a near miss for me: good qualities but rendered too rustic 12.5
Anthony Rose: Good, deep, youthfully vigorous ruby hue; nicely fresh and smoky on the nose, with good, fresh, dark-berry fruit. Equally, on the palate there’s a nice, toasty oak veneer of vanillin spice and, behind it, good, concentrated, dark-fruit richness, with balanced albeit firm tannins and very nice freshness of acidity. Zinfandel and finesse are not always great bedfellows, but this is a good marriage 16.5
