Stephen Brook: Fairly deep red. Sweet and rather confected cherry-and-raspberry nose, with some boiled-sweet aromas and a slight volatility. Sweet attack, very intense, with pronounced acidity and light tannins. There is some beet alongside the red-fruit flavors, but it’s one-dimensional and lacks complexity. However, this is a copybook representative of overripe, old-vine Zinfandel—excessive for my tastes but a classic example of a recognized style, and there’s no heat on the finish. Quite good length 15
Alex Hunt: An up-front, inviting combination of ripe plum fruit and toasty new oak on the nose. This is pretty classic Zinfandel: lots of juicy fruit, fairly bright acidity, some alcoholic warmth that, while noticeable, doesn’t seem to intrude, and enough firmness on the finish to invite a second sip 16
