Andrew Jefford: Full gold. Exotic but jolly nice: rich, chunky sweet fruits, which surely flirt with botrytis? Maybe not; you have the impression that you’re smelling a late-harvest wine, anyway: lush melon and heady floral scents, with lashings of crème anglaise for luck. On the palate, the wine is somewhat obvious in style, but still hugely enjoyable in the exuberant, rich, pâtisserie style. 85
Andreas Larsson: Very intense beginning, with a plethora of vanilla-laden fruit: yellow plum, apricot, and fresh butter. The oak is still rather present on the palate, appearing slightly woody/tannic, masking some of that luscious fruit; intense and bold, with a mild acidity, gentle spiciness, and quite long, warm finish. It still feels a bit young and unfinished—the oak should settle a bit— but it is nonetheless an opulent and inviting example. 83
Jancis Robinson: Quite deep gold. A pungent nose with more than a hint of oak. Rather a retro feel to the style of this wine, but nothing wrong with that. A little chewy on the end, and fully evolved in a lemon and stone-fruit way. Lots of impact on the palate. Suave and well melded. Solid. Drink 2013–16. 88
