Andrew Jefford: Pale gold. Fresh, sappy, and vital: tautly green, and very clean. On the palate, too, this is a taut, almost tart white, which has much more to say on the Sauvignon front than it does on the Chardonnay. Given that it is 2009, though, I can’t help wondering what the point of this is? It doesn’t seem to be evolving, though it has survived very well and is still delivering the pleasures of youth. It’s a little bit unripe, though, so I’m not sure it will ever do much pleasurable evolution. Good fresh salad white, though. 83
Andreas Larsson: Intense nose suggesting ripe Sauvignon, with notes of lime, kiwi, grapes, and fresh herbs. There’s some development in terms of slightly sweeter fruit, but still with good clarity and zest on the palate. A rather cool-climate style that has kept well; a good drink, but maybe not for further cellaring. 83
Jancis Robinson: Very pale greenish straw. Sauvignon definitely dominates the nose. Mild and tart. Lots of green veggie aromas. A bit ungenerous on the finish—where’s the fruit? Too old? Drink 2010–13. 86
