Nicolas Belfrage: Relatively light color, medium depth. Classic roses on the nose. Savory and fruity on the palate, with no exaggeration in any direction. The tannins are ripe, the acidity is correct, and the fruit is gentle but intense. Classic Barolo. Drink from 2016. 18.5
Bruno Besa: Garnet to tawny rim. Intense yet delicate rosewater-and-sour-cherries nose, with cedarwood and hints of fresh herbs. Balanced, clean, fragrant palate, with citrus fruits, small red fruits, and a long, mineral finish. A balanced, elegant Barolo. 18
Andrew Jefford: Clear garnet red, with some bricking. Soft, mellow, deliquescent. If you’d given me this with no vintage indication, I’d have guessed that it was 10 years old or more. Attractive and secondary, but a quick evolver. On the palate, too, we have a wine of impressive density and extractive force, but it is so evolved and lacking in inner vitality that one has to conclude the picking date was misconceived. Nonetheless, it has its own, fin-de-siècle, yellow-book, Beardsleyesque or Huysmanesque attractions, and I can imagine enjoying drinking it enormously—because the place and the variety are still present, despite the stylistic deformations. 14.5
