Andrew Jefford: Dark black-red in color. Beefy, broad-beamed, and articulate aromas, with plenty of heft and sinew apparent, and not ungenerous oak. Soft, quite plump for Lafon-Rochet in a middling vintage, round-contoured, yet with ample textural wealth. Plenty of classic St-Estèphe character, and with just a little more ripeness than some of its peers. A most rewarding 2012. 2018–25. 91
Michael Schuster: A fine, cedary Cabernet nose; fairly full, brisk in acidity, tannins a touch dry, mainly from the new wood; ripe, red-fruit flavor, still on the chewy side from the tannins, but aromatic, with complexity and length, if likely to be sinewy for a while. Good, but sturdy, a more old-fashioned expression of St-Estèphe. 2020–30. 88
