Tim Atkin: Youthful ruby/purple. Scented violet and blackberry nose. High-altitude intensity? Impressive. Not an alcoholic monster: refined palate for the weight of fruit. Silky tannins, skillful use of oak, appealing acidity, freshness, poise, and balance. Nicely understated. Should develop over the next 2–5 years. 16
Alex Hunt: Initially, a pronounced rubbery charcoal aroma that suggests reduction. This seems to blow off to reveal some attractive black-fruit aromas. The palate is lushly textured while retaining a firm streak of acidity. Good balance, but that first “off” flavor is rather worrying. 12
Anthony Rose: Dense ruby. Vivid raspberry and plum aromas, perfumed fruit aromas, seductively vibrant, juicy, and fresh Malbec dark-berry-fruit quality, with lively fresh acidity and supple balancing tannins. Good backbone and a very good drink for its primary berry-fruit quality. 15.5
