BUY THE WINE

Jesús Barquín: Pale gold. Austere nose, with a spicy hint, very serious palate, marked by oak aging, with decent fruit weight. 85

Andrew Jefford: Full gold. Soft, restrained, discreet but quite classy—the passing of the years seems to have been a light exfoliation here. On the palate, this is close-grained, elegant, fresh (still), and understated: undeniably poised and well bred. The lemony fruits of youth are beginning to modulate into an apricotty middle age, but without any sense of excess or heaviness. Admirable wine. That word admirable... I admire the wine, but I can’t quite get passionate about it; it’s just a little too cool and controlled for that. But well done to its maker for fine craft. 88

Richard Mayson: Deep old gold; lovely heady maturity on the nose; rich and savory, with toasty overtones and a vestige of fruit remaining; full, rich, and rather gorgeous for its age, kept alive by its pronounced acidity which rises onto the finish. Long and almost lush in its freshness and depth. 94
