Andrew Jefford: Pale green-white. Intriguing and unusual scents: a creaminess, some fresh papaya, green stems cut for the vase. Later, it becomes more sweetly floral—freesia, even a touch of lily. This nose has the charm I was searching for but not finding in the Elgin and Elim wines. On the palate, it is fresh, floral, clean, and dry, with a precise, light-stepped style. Vinous to finish. A successful and amenable Sauvignon/Semillon blend. 85
Andreas Larsson: Youthful appearance, with a slight spritz. A pure nose, starting out a bit closed but showing off more fruit with some air: ripe pear, quince, and some nutty notes. A well-rounded palate, behaving more like a blend than a Sauvignon, with more roundness and the weight of the Semillon shining through, yet with a distinct freshness and zest expected from the Sauvignon. Fairly persistent, with good clarity of fruit; there’s a slight whiff of vanilla on the finish, suggesting some oak, but very discreet and well imbedded. 88
Jancis Robinson: Pale straw with some spritz. This smells rather sweet, with the merest hint of Marlborough pungency about the nose. Very refreshing dry palate; lacks fruit concentration but is none the worse for that. There is some tension here and a very delicate hand on the tiller—a young wine that should age pretty well. Some lime flavors with lanolin and herbs. A lightweight wine with interest and potential. Drink 2014–19. 89
