BB | Garnet to light orange. Mature, smoke, chuckle nose with small red fruits, refined, complex, orange peel, fennel leaf. Medium body, lively, clean, cranberries and sour cherries palate with lively, herbal finish. 92
AJ | Deep, translucent black-red. More of a roar of fruit in the aromas here than for many of the 2019s: plum, cherry, black raspberry, and a bit of kernel shading. Very attractive, fresh and inviting. Deep, sound, long, full, structured. Very satisfying fruits, more deeply founded than many; yet splendidly fresh and perfumed, too. Mouthfilling, commanding, with a drive and completeness that few can manage. A terrific vineyard for sure and one of the few wines which I sense really needs more time. Neither excessively herbal nor overly sweet; not brutally tannic or evanescent: an Etna classicism, perhaps. A magnificent model for its region, this fine-sewn, commanding, seductive, subtle yet beguiling wine is also a new European reference. Bravo. And look out, Burgundy! 97
MP | Interesting nose with cooked black and red fruit, pronounced notes of chocolate, rum and raisin ice cream, toffee, earth and truffle. On the finish the fruit dies quickly suggesting that this wine may be tiring a little and losing some of the primary intensity. The tannins are dusty and mouth-drying and the firm acidity doesn't allow for much leeway when the fruit isn't there. 87
