SR | This 2019 is another rich and generous Schoenenbourg with a ripe and concentrated, almost caramelized fruit, which is reminiscent of litchees, stewed seed fruits, and crushed stones, intertwined with warm hay aromas. Savory on the palate, this is a full-bodied, rich, and saline as well as a pure and tannic Schoenenbourg, with plenty of power and complexity. Still bitter and tannic, this is another Schoenenbourg that deserves our patience. Its tight, complex, and saline nature gives hope enough. 93
AJ | Pale gold with pale gold glints. Plenty of oxygen exposure here gives expansive white-flower aromas, which almost seem to be glancing south to Hermitage. The purists will tut-tut, but I find it attractive if unclassical. Certainly a different rendition of Schoenenbourg. The palate follows suit, of course. Good raw materials, and not a fatally blemished wine, but not up there with the leaders on the basis of this bottle. 87
AR | Mid-gold in color, this is showing quite a lot of evolution of color and aroma for a relatively young grand cru Riesling, with some upfront bruised-apple, oxidative notes; and much the same can be said of the fruit, which is in the spectrum of baked apple and stone fruit, pleasantly juicy in texture, with some nice ripeness and balancing acidity, but I have to wonder about the evolution, given its relatively evolved, oxidative characters at this relatively early stage of its development. 89
