AK | A straw-golden color looks merely golden for an English wine; in many other contexts, this would not stand out. The nose holds toned-down notes of elderflower and pea shoot, with a slightly greener note of jalapeno. The palate is light, and the acidity seems softened and mellowed by a mealy texture, which is supported by slight phenolics. This, however, gathers pace and shape toward the finish, tapering into bright and structured freshness for such a light-bodied wine. If Bacchus were either wholly or partially present here, I would applaud this treatment. The jalapeno note re-appears on the finely tannic finish, which is bone-dry, super-fresh, and super-bright—but sadly short. 89
FP | Dark straw color. Green and sappy on the nose, with a touch of gooseberry and blackcurrant leaf. Nice acidity and a carbonic spritz give the wine focus, but the mid-palate is open and a touch dilute. The tannin here is more of an afterthought, more something that you remember on the finish. 87
DW | Looks like a "conventional" white wine toward the golden end of the spectrum, relatively light in the context. Lovely mix of red apple and greenish pungency on the nose, some exotic fruit, guava; on the palate, a Sauvignon-like elderflower character, with a twinge of citrus-pith bitterness; nice raciness and just a sprinkling of fine tannin; really mouthwatering and pure, and relatively light in feel if not in flavor; good length. I get a sense of place here that I haven't always got in this tasting. 92
