SF | Raven black colour, the rim hardly conceding anything. A reticent nose of shoe polish, tar and desiccated fruit, none of it especially forthcoming... the palate is far more generous, far more in the mould o f the Conseillante which we have come to love; a gemstone of pure fruit, a model of precise complexity , whatever that may mean. Cassis, blueberry, violets and stone fruit, ample ripe tannins in support, a sea of acidity running through the ensemble and set to nourish it down the years... 95
AJ | Deep, dense black-red, though not quite opaque at the core. Sweet, lifted, vivid: fresher fruits than many of its peer; picked a little earlier than some?. Fine aromatic complexity and poise here, and less "belly up" than many of its Pomerol peers. On the palate, too, this is a Pomerol which seems to have a little more of the Medoc-style freshness and poise than many of its peers. It's not as massive and broad-shouldered; it is, by contrast, an energetic darter, with remarkably fresh fruits defined with super precision and focus (those modern virtues). Just a lovely singing bright core of fruit, which sweats energy and zest. I wasn't expecting this but I have to say it has totally won me over in the drinking. An essential Pomerol reference in `19.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2040. 95
MS | Dense, somewhat closed, but a fairly ‘packed’ presence, with a sense of violet florals and ‘noble herbal’ complexity; rich, concentrated, fresh, and firmly tannic, a very fine 2019 Pomerol balance, and clearly part of the recent deliberately ‘richer’ style of La Conseillante, with notably more substance; deep, sweetly ripe, subtly mineral, black cherry and violets to taste, mineral informed too, long, close grained and generous, now a Pomerol of ample proportions, but with a certain restraint too; a marked complexity and tenacity of flavour, with great gently spicy length to finish. A regal, an imposing Conseillante. Magnificent Pomerol. Splendid long term wine. Lucky those who will have it in their cellars at full maturity! Give it at least a decade.Drink Dates: 2035 - 2055+. 97
