SF | Reduction makes it hard to judge at the moment; aeration does not immediately help us. Good weight behind this, structural integrity for sure, but the fruit character is compromised for the moment and the weight of alcohol makes it even more difficult to attempt an accurate assessment. 87
AJ | Dense, deep, dark black-red. Fresh, bright, lively and alert: lots of fruited aromatic zest in the Pensees this year. On the palate, it is remarkably concentrated and really way better than 'second-wine' level in a Medoc sense: a very serious Pomerol with purity, lift, breed, texture and length. The variety mix here (and the soils) give it a uniquely lively, almost athletic character, but there is plenty of substrate and almost salty depth behind. A super buy (if you can find it).Drink Dates: 2024 - 2040. 93
MS | Dense, subtle, fragrant nose of considerable complexity, with an early hint of truffles already; rich, full, very fresh, particularly fine in tannin; deep and yet aerial at the same time, fully ripe without being sweet as such, long, freshly defined, subtle, graceful, restrained, packed with flavour yet in an absolutely effortless way; distinctly yet so discreetly gravelly in aroma and flavour, and with great aromatic persistence. Just touched by its alcohol warmth, but it is overall so fine and complete, you hardly notice. A remarkably complete Pensées.Drink Dates: 2030 - 2050. 94
