SF | Mid gold, then aromas of almond, late season apple, quince and yellow plum; just a hint of wax and honeysuckle to signal the intervention of botrytis...hopefully...the palate is spicy, the ripe fruit shrouded in sugar and optimistic oak, the structure somewhat dissolute, lacking focus at the moment and seemingly a little hollow. A shadow of what one might have expected, dare one suggest, from such an illustrious house in a year which, yes , required a careful tread, but which was not completely without promise. 88
AJ | Mid depth of gold. Cleanly sweet, freshly sinewy, graceful and enticing. Like most today, this is not in allusive overdrive ... but everything the aromas allude to is positive, spotless and promising: honeyed and full, melon and linden, peach and pineapple. Admirable overtures. Lively, clean, deft and fresh, though perhaps a little less rich and allusion-charged than I hoped from that aromatic sweep. Impeccable, poised balance nonetheless, and every reason to expect a little more with time.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2034. 92
