SF | A deep and dark colour; smoke and hearthside, violets, liquorice and eucalypt...harmonious in other words. The palate is more expansive, maybe gently oxidative. the tannins, paradoxically , appear to be more aggressive, sinewy, unresolved. There is a bitterness which is hard to gainsay, should one wish to attempt such a thing . 87
AJ | Dense, saturated black-red, opaque to the core. Vibrant plum scents, with some evident oak-sweetening, but the two work well enough together, graphite too. Long, driving and sustained; enticing and appetising. Deep, vivid and vigorous, with extravagant yet luscious tannins, and a rivetting core of plum, damson and sloe fruit. The oak to me is a little bit too prominent, but fruit of this quality seems to be having no difficulty in swallowing it, and more so (we hope) with time.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2038. 92
DW | Cherry Bakewell and citrus peel; gentian and juniper and damson – a very compelling nose. The palate is spicy, chewy, dense, but full of energy with a pinch of dried herb, sage, saignant steak juices and a refreshing Campari-ish bitterness on the long finish. Fascinating. 93
