AJ | Clear, light, translucent garnet. Rather sweet in fruit terms, but also creamy, herbal, well-supported; lots of top notes, but plenty of bottom to hold it all in place, too. Characterful and intriguing. A new-wood component? Lots packed into the palate, as the nose, and the whole carried off in rather plush, sweet style. The raw materials are very good and if you like lots of action and excitement in your Barolo, get it here. I think half a decade's ageing will work a treat.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2036. 89
BB | Garnet to tawny. Touch developed, earthy, tobacco, cedar, leather nose. Massive tannins, moderate fruit, challenging finish. A massive wine that may balance in the future. Today it's not providing much enjoyment. 87
MP | Lovely, savoury, complex nose with ripe black fruit, earthy tones and spice. The nose has liquorice, Chinese 5-spice, hay, rose petal, sandalwood, forest floor along with cherry and plum. In the mouth this has gentle acidity, fine tannins and a persistent finish. Serralunga always confers an extra structural dimension and this wine balances the tannins and acidity with a fine layer of ripe fruit.Drink Dates: 2030 - 2035. 96
