AJ | Bright, clear scarlet-red with garnet glints. Warm, refined, tentatively secondary already, resonant and allusive: excellent aromatics if just a little dry and linear. Ditto on the palate: super intensity and drive, purity and restraint, but perhaps a bit "tightly wound" for the time being. MP | Pure and aromatic with notes of mint, eucalyptus, black cherry and tar. The palate is massive but dominated by alcohol and cooked black fruit without any of the subtle red fruits that characterise a cooler vintage. Monforte is tricky commune in which to find balance.
