SF | Medium ruby colour; the nose is upstanding, a little reticent, careless of the ripeness of the vintage, maybe just taking its time. Indeed, with time and a little aeration, the nuances of griotte, bilberry and even, unexpected, a hint of balsam are evidenced. The oak is otherwise composed, not lacking for influence, but also with no need to stamp out personality with an overly authoritarian grip. More linear than some and more floral, as indeed Chinon has every right to be. 89
DW | Some darker berries and lush mulberry, even a touch of black cherry fruit here in a lovely ripe style which has a mouthfilling richesse alongside some delightfully fine and balancing chalky tannin and mineral acidity: a warm-vintage tone, sure, but not at the cost of refreshment and crispness of texture.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2032. 93
AR | Medium ruby in colour, this shows a marked tomato and herb-like aromatic character leading into a wine of bright red fruit that's not marked by oak but rather , thanks to either hot weather or extraction, some quite drying tannins towards the end of the mouthful, becoming almost chewy, and so very much in need of food to absorb those tannins.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2027. 89
