SF | Rich colour and very narrow rim; nose a touch smoky, with raspberry fruit, rich and resonant, hints of tar and cardoman, deep and impressive, robust tannins, regimented by the acidity; a long , evocative and entirely impressive finish. 93
AJ | An astonishing colour still for a 2009,with opaque density at the core and no evidence of age or bricking at the meniscus. Could still be under 5 years old Almost exotic and tropical aromas somehow, of mingled fruits, flowers and vegetal notes. Normally I'd say 'mixed ripeness' but in fact this aromatic style seems to be a Dao hallmark ... and it's not unattractive. ON the palate, it is still very deep, very zesty and lively, with the same mingling of fruit, flower and vegetal notes that the nose sketched out. NOt the subtlest wine on the block, but packed with excitement and holding the years at bay admirably.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2029. 90
RM | Deep, black opaque colour with a thin maturing rim; heady forest floor aromas and flavours with a rather lean leathery savoury character on the palate and on to the finish. Still all there (but only just).Drink Dates: 2024 - 2028. 89
