SF | Ruby red, just a little mute. Compensation comes in the form of attractive lifted aromatics; violets, smoke, crushed raspberry and white pepper. The palate adds the perspective of enrobing acidity and dextrous tannins; the purity of fruit shouts out granite and a sense of place; cold nights and very hot days; austerity masked by generosity, ambition emboldened by inherent quality. 92
AJ | Dark, near-opaque black red Another richly oaky wine although the oak works better here than it does for many of its peers thanks to what seems to be dense, underlying fruit. Almost chocolatey. A farmy touch, too, to be honest. The sweet oak seems, paradoxically, to have a drying effect on the palate. Dense, deep, plummy, sweet. Very challenging. Perhaps some good quality raw materials but for me some different approach is needed in order to attain even the requisite minimum of drinkability. Concentration aplenty, as always.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2028. 87
RM | Deep, youthful and nearly opaque; closed on the nose with underlying density and depth; some good rich, leathery-spicy fruit in the mouth supported by firm tannins which fill out on the finish. Good weight and balance if a little lacking in finesse.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2035. 88
