SF | Deeper colour than many; amber and a touch of tan. Oxidative notes on the nose, wood rather than yeast, aged orchard fruit rather than youthful allusive citric descriptors. The palate is entirely as it should be, dry, flowery and touched by yeast and umami. Somehow, maybe as a result of filtration, it lacks the tension and rigour of the best examples, and leaves on a little flat, appropriately enough. And yet..and yet......one keeps coming back and one is almost hypnotised by the self-disciplined rigours of complex 90
AJ | Astonishingly deep colour: an old gold with orange glints. Honestly seems rather tired on the aromas (even though drawn from the cask last winter); very hessian, touch of sulphur. I'd be disappointed to pour a glass of this and be greeted by this aroma. I look again 15 minutes later and it has improved somewhat with air, though still in the heavy hessian style. Better on the palate: big, rich, solid, almost chewy. Clearly another Pasada. It won't disappoint n the mouth but I would still have liked a little more aromatic allure.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2025. 89
DW | Darker gold in colour and flavour, with a richly nutty intensity: almond butter, English porter, but some frangipane, too; substantial and satisfying, silky textured, long. Intense.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2025. 93
