AJ | Dark black-red; just opaque at the core. Quietly curranty and fresh, softly expressed, but with a pure-fruitedness and tender poise which eludes many of its peers. You do get a sense of incipient complexity and potential evolution here. Impressive weight of fruit for the vintage, and that fruit has some inner sweetness as well as the vintage's darting freshness. Excellent use of oak here (more softening and amplifying than "oaking) and the wine has some aromatic resource on the palate that wasn't apparent in the aromas themselves -- another good sign. Excellent work in this tricky vintage, though the overall cool cast of the fruit means that this is not a Poujeaux for long storage. Drink Dates: 2027 - 2035. 90
