BUY THE WINE

Jesús Barquín: Pale yellow. Although apparently including some foreign varieties in the blend, this wine displays a marked Penedès character (Parellada?), especially on the nose. The palate is dry, austere, very serious, uncompromising. 89

Andrew Jefford: Pale gold, with a shy mousse. Sweet, fresh, warm, comforting, and yet not particularly allusive compared to the best of its peers. Solid, poised, lively, with plenty of dry grass and wild-herb character, but not with the intricacy or sublimity of the best. 84

Andreas Larsson: Clear, slightly developed golden nuance, witha fine stream of bubbles. The nose offers someroasted notes, a hint of rubber/plastic, with citrusand barely ripe fruit. On the palate, it shows somephenolic notes, white pepper and dry spices.Bone-dry, for sure, but it appears a bit austereand dry, lacking some flesh and fruitiness. Onlymoderate length, and it should probably have beendrunk by now. 81
