BUY THE WINE

Alison Buchanan: Though this had a very leesy, slightly sweaty cheese–holey nose initially, mineral character then kicked in to provide real definition. The elements are all there on the palate but slightly at sea; honeyed richness, fresh acidity, orchard fruits, with aspirations to the tropics and an over–riding mineral structure. The latter seeks to pull everything together and might well – in the future…14

Alex Hunt: Earthy, indistinct nose. Some concentration but little style. 13.5

Andrew Jefford: Pale lemon–gold. Not a wholly successful aromatic spectrum: I like the sweet leafiness, but it is rather vague and unfocussed, and there is also a slightly incongruous, faintly meaty note there too. Very acidic, with little aromatic potential to give it lift and density. The overall effect is rather four–square. Nonetheless this is a concentrated wine with some classicism and, to be fair, some finishing minerality also. With a fine aromatic profile and structure, this might merit a top score. 14.5
