Alison Buchanan: Richly textured, this has a very open, leesy waxed fruit nose with (again) some ester character, allied to blown fruit. The concentration on the palate here subdues (almost) the confected notes on the nose. This is ripe, seductive and yet mineral and slightly herbaceous. I cannot fault the direction and structure but fine the confected element challenging as well as a possible lack of grace. 14

Alex Hunt: Thin, leafy aroma. Straightforward grassy palate that, despite some mineral depth, fails really to excite. 12

Andrew Jefford: ale water–gold in color. Rather dry and cardboardy in aroma. Recognisably varietal, but I don’t get the breed and class of the appellation. With time in the glass, there is something a little more aerial and floral emerges, but charm is not its middle name. Intense, forceful, with plenty of lime thrust; better on the palate than on the aroma. Overall a four–square wine, simply delivering rather than exceeding the promise of the Sancerre name. 13.5
