BUY THE WINE

Alison Buchanan: Pale straw in color, this is rather subdued on the nose just hinting at mineral and flint and some vague unidentifiable fruit. The palate is very mineral with nervy acidity to complement subtly apple and pear character. Simple wine. 12

Alex Hunt: Delicate nose, with some apricot/gooseberry depth. The palate is a bit too lean and tart to be satisfying, however. Something not quite clean here. Corky or just grubby? No second bottle so cannot be sure. 10

Andrew Jefford: Pale green–gold. Softly, sweetly grassy. Relatively discreet, and something faintly cardboard–like beneath, but I’m being fastidious; fundamentally this smells classic and appealing. Incisive, concentrated and long. The middle palate goes through a slightly raw phase, but that’s the vintage as much as anything. Sound, sturdy Sancerre. Pungent, rousing finish. 14
