Tim Atkin: Deep color, super-concentrated. Very perfumed, leaps out of the glass and grabs your nose. Leafy, smoky, some burned rubber, but it works in the context of the wine. Fleshy, yet also with a green streak of blackcurrant leaf. Finish a little too green, as well as alcoholic, but no doubting the quality of the fruit or the richness of the wine. 16
Gerard Basset: Deep ruby, with hint of garnet on the rim. Very pronounced nose. Young berry with marked green-pepper notes. Foursquare, ripe tannin, peapod on the palate; medium finish. 15.5
Anthony Rose: Dense, youthful ruby hue; distinctively leafy, herbal, mulberry-like nose; similarly strong mulberry fruit flavors on the palate, with a tongue-coating level of tannins and distinctively herbal undertones, but it’s fresh, nicely rich, and the oak is nicely integrated; it’s just a little rustic on the finish, that’s all. Nothing a good braai shouldn’t resolve. 16.5
