Tim Atkin: Deep color, very little development. Very Cab, but green and leafy and alcoholic. Dry tannins, too much extraction. Chunky, quite foursquare. High alcohol, some dead fruit, powerful; but where is the charm and balance? 14

Gerard Basset: Deep ruby. Fairly pronounced nose. Bilberry, cranberry. Lean and tight, wild berry, medium finish. 15

Anthony Rose: Medium ruby; minty, leaf and herbal aromas here; distinctively herbal, lean Bordeaux-style fruitiness, quite supple tannins and freshness and nice purity and oak integration, though slightly extracted firm tannins toward the finish; definitely in the “elegant” Cape camp, yet with a slight greenness and chewiness that make it distinctively Cape. 16.5
