Tim Atkin: Thick, supercharged color. A little baked, very ripe, concentrated. Lots of oak, very ripe, medium tannins, some acid, still young and needs time. Palate a little dry, but the fruit is still young. Dry finish. With some burned rubber but also some pleasantly spicy notes. 14
Gerard Basset: Deep ruby. Quite open. Blackberry and ginger cake. Full and well balanced, lots of richness on the palate, with plum and pastry notes; long finish. 17
Anthony Rose: Good, youthful ruby hue; odd mixture of green and jammy aromas; very Cape, sweet blackberry fruit, with powerful alcohol and very firm tannic extraction, all the while with that distinctive green streak running through the middle. 12
